"Vascular Disease in Patients with Multiple Sclerosis: A Review" co-authored by Marcello Mancini, member and chairperson of the INSVD. Open access -- this is a comprehensive review and is a suggested reading for anyone interested in learning more about the vascular component in multiple sclerosis. Conclusion: Recent evidence suggests that vascular components may be initiating triggers for neuronal pathology and subsequent neurological manifestations of the disease. The high degree of comorbidity between vascular disease and Multiple Sclerosis suggests that vascular pathology may be an important factor causing neuronal dysfunction or degeneration in multiple sclerosis http://www.esciencecentral.org/journals/vascular-disease-in-patients-with-multiple-sclerosis-a-review-2329-6925-1000259.pdf
