CCSVI in Multiple Sclerosis
Adequate cerebral blood flow and venous drainage are essential for brain health. This study, from Dr. Haacke and Wayne State, looked at factors which decrease venous flow--and aging and vascular risk factors (poor diet, lack of exercise, obesity, smoking) were linked to lower cerebral blood flow. The brain needs blood--it brings oxygen and energy--and brain cells die without adequate perfusion. Slowed venous drainage creates hypoperfusion. #HeartBrainConnection Brain Struct Funct. 2017 Jan 24. doi: 10.1007/s00429-016-1362-2. [Epub ahead of print]
