Quick summary from reading the very negative paper, editorial and then hearing Dr. Zamboni--- 97% of patients had CCSVI, but for ALL different reasons. Stuck valves, hypoplasia, external compression. Some responded better than others to simple PTA. Only 54% of those treated maintained blood flow restoration. Which means that simple PTA is not enough for many with CCSVI. BUT IT ALSO MEANS THAT CCSVI IS A REAL CONDITION. Here's the JAMA paper https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamaneurology/fullarticle/2664001#editorial-comment-tab

This is only the first paper coming out of Brave Dreams, and it was authored by the MS neurologists who participated, which may explain the negative slant. PTA improved many things in over half the treated patients, so there's obviously more evaluation which needs to be done on how best to treat INDIVIDUAL patients.

What struck me the most is that over 60% of the treated patients had no new lesions at a year---and in the paper, the neuros admit there appears to be a change in CSF flow dynamics and a potential healing of the blood brain barrier. This is huge. If any drug could do this, it would be major international headlines....not some nay saying editorial. More later. Joan http://ccsviinms.blogspot.com/2017/11/exciting-ms-treatment.html
