Could there be links to other diseases that have a different process occurring than what has been assumed for decades? The finding of the brain/CNS/CSF lymph vessels and system pathway recently has also challenged every concept regarding brain health, at last, and using drugs to modify diseases rather than take the time to find the cause and actions that disease has is immoral imo! It is not yet clear whether the plaques that form in the brains of Alzheimer’s patients are fighting a real bacterial threat or are an overreaction to a perceived threat, as in other auto-immune diseases. The discovery opens a whole new field of research for scientists trying to fight the disease. Instead of just trying to combat the plaques, doctors may in future be able to attack the infections that cause the plaques to form. It also raises questions for scientists working with other amyloid-related diseases, such as Type 2 diabetes. A protein called Aß is thought to cause neuronal death in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Aß forms insoluble aggregates in the brains of patients with AD, which are a hallmark of the disease. Aß and its propensity for aggregation are widely viewed as intrinsically abnormal. However, in new work, Kumar et…
