Dear Ginger, I am writing to you because I know that you have access to many MS'rs out there. My father was in a very advanced state (totally paralyzed) of MS when we left for France to have the Liberation procedure done three weeks ago.
The trip was very difficult. He was in exactly the kind of state where we were being told "not to bother". My father is by no means cured but after the procedure he immediately regained his full strong
voice, and regained head and neck movement. Now, he no longer chokes at
night or when eating, feels strong and not tired, can wiggle his toes
and has bulky arm and hand movements. His limbs are not longer spastic.
To us it is still wonderful and his quality of life has improved.
Every day there is a new tiny thing he can do. With gently physio and
our powerplate maybe he can feel even better. It looks as if this will
prevent or put off the feeding tube which was around the corner for us.
My father was about a 9.5 on the EDSS scale. My father was congenitally missing 3 out of 4 jugulars and the one he did have was 80 per cent blocked. Maybe you know of someone else in this state you could pass our story on to.
