How CCSVI has changed ~ and challenged ~ health care in CandaJoin in the conversation with Dr. Kirsty Duncan as we move from where have
we come from to where we are now and, ultimately, to how we can bring
comprehensive, equitable CCSVI assessment, treatment, and follow up to
all of Canada.
CCSVI has challenged the provincial health care systems across Canada. Looking to the federal government for
leadership and support, we were met instead with claims of a lack of
evidence, yet no willingness to immediately launch research to collect
the necessary evidence. Furthermore, every day, Canadians return home
after spending thousands of dollars abroad on treatment, not for their
MS, but for their occluded and malformed veins. Yet, still, little has
been done to track such patient experiences. Hope grows as many patients
report excellent and promising results and share their honest and
uncensored stories on Facebook, Youtube, and forums worldwide.
CCSVI has somehow become inexplicably linked to MS, which has dragged it into
the muddiness of which came first. Patients do not have time to waste
on such paradoxes. Let history be the judge of the origins of MS, but
let the doctors who can and are willing to treat venous anomalies in all
patients ~ no matter their prior diagnosis, prognosis, or symptomology ~
treat them with respect, dignity, and professionalism.
