After the recent news of the sad story of Mahir Mostic,a 35-year-old Canadian MS patient who traveled to Costa Rica for treatment for CCSVI and died following a blood clot complication of his stent procedure, MS patients have been enquiring about alternatives to the CCSVI venoplasty intervention – specifically, a procedure performed in Albany NY in which a vascular bypass is created, instead of the use of stents, and another procedure reportedly conducted in Cabos San Lucas in which a vascular graft was performed, in in lieu of a stent. The CCSVI medical team at Hospital Angeles has performed more than 100 Liberation interventions, with only a small minority receiving stents. Dr. Luna, Stanford-trained interventional cardiologist, discusses the question of vascular bypass here. Please join Dr. Luna at the next About CCSVI webinar for follow up Q&A, and to learn more about the Angeles CCSVI Patient Registry, the largest open study of its kind on the efficacy of CCSVI intervention for MS.
