The MS Society has called on governments across Canada to take action on CCSVI. Provincial and territorial governments should:

  1. Earmark funds for a pan-Canadian therapeutic trial on CCSVI, so that an immediate infusion of funding will be available when such a trial is developed and approved.

  2. Create registries for patients who have obtained the CCSVI procedure abroad, or more broadly, for people living with MS, and to work with the MS Society of Canada to advocate to the federal government to play a coordinating and funding role of similar registries across Canada.

  3. Ensure that no Canadian who undergoes treatment for CCSVI abroad, is denied the necessary post-treatment, follow-up medical care they require when they return home.

Several governments across Canada have taken action on CCSVI. The MS Society applauds these initiatives and urges other governments to act now. We continue to press the federal government to commit $10 million to support a pan-Canadian therapeutic clinical trial and to play a coordinating and funding role of similar registries across Canada.
