Carol Prest: I am posting this in hopes that many CCSVI Advocates in Toronto will attend Dr. Rubin's public lecture on Jan 28th. I am from Alberta so will not be able to attend, however I think these questions are important and will provide us with information to his intent. Dr. Rubin was on the CIHR expert panel that voted NO to Pan Canadian Trials on August 26th.

My questions for Dr. Barry Rubin's Public Lecture on CCSVI - Scientific, moral and ethical considerations.

Dr. Barry Rubin's lecture link:

Dr. Barry Rubin – Vascular Surgeon and Medical Director of the “Peter Munk Cardiac Center in Toronto will be holding a Public Lecture on Jan 28th, 2011 to discuss CCSVI, scientific, moral and ethical considerations.

Dr. Rubin was part of the expert panel that voted NO at the CIHR meeting on August 26, 2010 for approval of Pan- Canadian Clinical trials. Is his agenda to educate other Vascular doctors or add to the fear mongering? I hope his goal is to help Canadian MS'ers and not cause further roadblocks. I am interested to know what Dr. Rubin has done or is prepared to do to educate himself in an unbiased way. It appears from his bio, that he is a respected doctor that specializes in conditions of the arteries and heart and the NOT veins and the brain.

Questions I would ask Dr. Barry Rubin:

1. Has Dr. Rubin had the opportunity to discuss CCSVI testing and treatment with any of the current Vascular, Interventional Radiologists and Neurologist doctors familiar with and/or providing this treatment?

Dr. Zamboni; Dr. Sandy McDonald; Dr. David Hubbard; Dr. Dake; Dr. Zivadinov; Dr. Arata; Dr. Simka; Dr. Siskin; Dr. Sclafani etc.

2. What is Dr. Rubin’s response to the Alberta Health Services Position statement on CCSVI, does he agree with Dr. Zamboni’s written response to this statement?

4. Is Dr. Rubin familiar with Zamboni’s papers? What is his opinion of Dr. Zamboni and his studies?

8. Does Dr. Rubin recognize CCSVI as a stand alone vascular condition and does he believe there is an association with MS. If so should this vascular abnormality be treated?
