Julie CalderIMPORTANT!

A message from Tom Gilhooly (I sent him a message about the forthcoming programme on BBC Southwest):

Julie,
I am well aware of this programme which has been the bain of our lives for the past few weeks. The journalist Sam Smith is determined to stop CCSVI in the UK and has been muck racking, lying, cheating and deceiving in an effort to achieve her goal. God knows why she wants people to travel to the likes of Eygpt rather than Edinburgh but she is determined. We are equally determined that a misinformed journalist is not going to derail probably the most important medical breakthrough for MS in the past century ! I was "door stopped" today as I got out of my car at my surgery by her and a film crew but stood my ground and gave her a real time of it for half an hour. I told her she would squirm with embarressment when she looks back on this programme. I thinks she was beginning to doubt her approach but they will cut it to look as if I am a deranged war criminal but none the less I did enjoy it !
Tell all your pals on facebook that this woman is public enemy number one for CCSVI in the UK. She has lied and threatened to try and get us to stop. She impersonated a patient and had a scan at Guilford and turns out to have jugular valve abnormalities. This is probably true of 20 % of the population so not a big WOW. She did refuse to fill in her medical history form and also declined a doctors appointment but then claimed Vic did not take her medical history ! She also claimed he offered to treat her with stents which is pure manipulation as Vic does not make any treatment recommendations but will speak generally about this if asked.

Anyway don't expect too much from this gutter trash. Shame on the BBC but by the laws of nature we should also get a good programme about it sometime soon.

Regards
