The New Orleans Saints won the NFC Championship on a Sunday.  Monday night, we had a MS conference in suburban New Orleans.  The presentation was ok, but focuses on Big Pharma.  The presentation was nine months before I got the procedure.  I think I asked about CCSVI and the presenter, a doctor from Oregon said it was an interesting theory, but needed study.

Upon memory, that was a fair answer to the CCSVI question to a doctor who did not know.  CCSVI was not dismissed, but he spoke nicely of the procedure.

The reason for my post has nothing more to do with CCSVI, rather the doctor from Oregon.  When he was finishing his discussion, he said he wanted to go off the presentation for a moment.  Nothing can gather focus faster than saying you are going off script.

He told the story Sunday night when the Saints had won a huge game that moved them to the Super Bowl.  The city was estatic.  Parties came after the Saints won.   The doctor's hotel room was in the French Quarter, ground zero for celebrations.  Outside his hotel room was party central and he worried if he would get sleep.  Suddenly, he heard a bull horn.  The voice was loud, but calm.  The voice reminded the reverlers that we are all glad we won, but could we take it inside the bars?  People live here in the quarter and will work tomorrow morning.

The doctor was shocked the police would ask this from the citizens.  More shocking, the people followed the request.

Within ten minutes, his room was "church mouse quiet."

People in New Orleans know how to party, but we respect the fact the sun will rise and some of us need to go to work.

The doctor said, "You people know how to party.  And how to respect vistors."  He was impressed.  New Orleans know how to party and respect others.

And we do.

Happy Mardi Gras.
