t WorldMed Assist we understand how important training and experience are for a medical physician.  That’s why we only select highly qualified physicians and surgeons for your CCSVI liberation surgery treatment.  For your CCSVI liberation treatment in Belgium, we are proud to introduce Doctor Roel Beelen.  Dr. Beelen has accomplished over 170 CCSVI procedures, making him the most experienced CCSVI surgeon in Belgium.  He has received outstanding training in both cardiovascular and cardiothoracic medicine and is a wonderful addition to our WorldMed Assist team.

Medical and Surgical Training

Dr. Beelen completed his candidature in medicine at Limburg University Centre (LUC Diepenbeek), where he finished cum laude.  He also passed cum laude at Catholic University of Louvain, where he completed his practice years in medicine.  Afterwards, Dr. Beelen completed his Surgical Training at OLV Hospital at Aalst and Medicine University Hospital at Gasthuisberg, both located in Belgium.  These programs were completed during the years 2001-2007. In the year 2007, Dr. Beelen furthered his training by completing a 12 month cardiovascular and thoracic medicine program. He ranked cum magna laude in this program and passed his qualifying exam in general medicine.  By 2009 he had also earned his certificate for special skills in vascular surgery.  From 2007-2010 he participated in an exciting fellowship covering cardio-thoracic and vascular medicine at OLV Hospital.

Research and Publications

Dr. Beelen has demonstrated his commitment to thorough, ongoing studies in the field of surgery by participating in advanced research projects.  For example, he is an on-site investigator for three projects: Meditronic Virtue Study, Sorin Florence Mitroflow Study, and Abbott Bravissimo Trial.  Dr. Beelen is also an accomplished writer in the field of medical surgery.  He has authored several journal articles, including a publication of a case report on carotid aneurysm and an article on thoracotomy procedures.  His published works are valuable contributions to the surgical field. In addition, Dr. Beelen is a member of several professional medical societies in Belgium.  He is currently a full member in both the Belgian Society for Vasculary Surgery as well as the Belgian Group for Endoscopic Surgery.  He is also a member of the Belgian Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery.  His membership in these groups allows him to exchange ideas and research with his peers in the medical field, thus furthering his contributions to the medical professional community.
