We are a team of individuals who have a passion to help other MS patients get the same help we have already received. The only thing we have to gain is the reward of hearing a young mother say "I can now hold my baby by myself in my own arms". When a 27 year old father says "Thank You for helping his 3 children get their father back". When a lady in a wheelchair says " I have walked for the first time in 10 years with my walker".

We need more research and we need treatment in Canada NOW. We wish to travel across Canada to bring awareness and to educate all Canadians about CCSVI.

A few years ago an Italian Vascular surgeon came up with the biggest break-through in MS in the last 40 years. He discovered that the vast majority, (up to 90%), of people with MS have severe blockages in the veins draining their necks and brains, (called CCSVI). Then by performing a simple angioplasty procedure these blockages could be removed, resulting in improvements in their health. He also noted that after this procedure 75% of the people he treated had mild to dramatic improvements in their MS symptoms. To date more than 12,000 people worldwide have had this procedure done successfully.

Seventy five thousand Canadians are afflicted with Multiple Sclerosis. Due to associated health complications four hundred of us die every year. The suicide rate is seven times the national average. Obviously there is an urgent need for an effective treatment for the disease, however, presently, at the cost of up to $20,000, Canadians have to leave the country to obtain this treatment.

It is the intention of the Beyond MS Association to help make this procedure available to all Canadians. It is our intention to travel from St. John's to Victoria publicizing, advocating for, and fund-raising for the CCSVI angioplasty procedure.
