Two Canadian Doctors will be hosting a conference in Grande Prairie regarding a medical procedure for Multiple Sclerosis.

On Saturday June 18, the Chronic Cerebro-Spinal Venous Insufficiency (CCSVI) Society of Grande Prairie and District will be holding a conference about the CCSVI procedure at the Holiday Inn and Suites, located at 9816-107 Street in Grande Prairie.

The conference is designed to help educate patients with MS about the disease, the procedure - which has not been approved to be practiced in Canada yet - and to help provide patients with a better quality of life. The event is open to anyone interested in attending, regardless of their health status and is free of charge.

The Conference will include two Canadian born guest speakers, Dr. Joseph Hewett and Dr. Bill Code. Dr. Hewett grew up in Carmen Manitoba and earned his Master’s degree in biomedical engineering at the University of Arizona. Dr. Code grew up in Saskatchewan and after completing his medical degree, moved to Calgary where he specialized in Anesthesiology and pain management. In 1996, Dr. Code was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and has written multiple books on the disease.

Dr. Hewett will also be giving private consultations prior and post conference, free of charge. Anyone interested in booking an appointment or have any questions please contact Debbie Golden, president of the CCSVI Society Grande Prairie and District at 780-539-6983.
