Ever wonder just how involved the drug companies are in social networking? Many of these are solely sponsered by one Pharmacuetical company. Others are listed as non sponsored, but they are actually 3rd party sponsored like PLM. Now Facebook has "Dose of Digital" where you can find all the most of the support websites in one place for a variety of physical and mental disorders or conditions. Do they help? Absolutely! Are they free? NO! We already give up all manner of information about ourselves. I personally would like to know who benefits from my participation on support sites. Is it for the members or the sponsors? Chronically ill people can be a windfall of cash for any entrepeneur with the audacity to exploit the patients they purport to assist. http://www.doseofdigital.com/healthcare-pharma-social-media-wiki/ Want more interesting info about pharma on Facebook? BTW: If you don't see me on Facebook anymore..it wasn't my choice. http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2010/10/patients-like-me-experienced-data.html Isn't it bad enough that the drug companies make a killing , literally by farming and gleaning information from unsuspecting people with chronic illnessesT The transparency of websites like Patients Like Me are a front for a million dollar business of taking top dollar to drug companies to gather all your personal and medical information to the highest bidder. they plant phoney "patients to cull personal information then try to sway members to increase the drugs they are trying to off load. Your information is not private and your best cyber buddy is likely to be a paid employee to get you to release information you might better keep your yourself. They have invested millions of dollars in "unknown" business ventures like vultures.
