"The Federal Government and the MS Society are acting irresponsibly" said Warren Stefanuk, President of the Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency Society of Alberta (CCSVI Alberta). To allow people to suffer and die while a potential life saving treatment is available is unethical, bordering on criminal. This has gone on too long! How many more must die?" There are now thousands of with Canadians with MS shouting at the government "The MS Society Does Not Speak for ME!" The Federal Government isn't listening!

Angioplasty in veins is a very, very safe and common procedure.  There is absolutely no need to conduct a Phase 1 trial to determine safety.  It will be a waste of valuable time and money.  Safety of venous angioplasty has been well proven, specifically for CCSVI treatment in peer reviewed published studies in the US,Poland and other countries.  In general millions of angioplasties have been safely performed in blood vessels, including the jugular veins that are treated during CCSVI treatment.  Safety should not be in doubt.  To ignore the available research data is irresponsible.

For some reason, the real experts on veins and angioplasty, the vascular surgeons and interventional radiologists are silent on this issue.  I encourage the MS Society and the Government to talk to real angioplasty experts!

What people suffering from MS and other neurodegenerative conditions need is action now.  Every day, they deteriorate a little more, sometimes a lot more.  We need to start a large scale phase II/III trial in multiple centers immediately.  The treatment and research can be done concurrently.  A simple thing is being made complicated unnecessarily." Stefanuk Said.
