please consider the following information, which is detrimental to all who would benefit this treatment and shows how unjust the political system is.
1) Detractors of stem cell therapies are largely based in North America and are not without their own considerable biases. Many of the most vocal critics are paid lobbyists (1300 pharmaceutical company lobbyists in Washington DC) paid big money to write legislation for the US government and they are backed up by an estimated 5,000 lawyers.
2) The FDA has ruled that stem cells are ‘drugs’. Is this really a public health issue if FDA regulations were designed to manage public health risk for mass-produced drugs and patients who undergo stem cell transplantation are being treated with their own cells on an individual basis? The mandate of the FDA has clearly been exceeded if it gives the government the right to regulate your own blood and cells.
3) Is it a coincidence that the FDA has been decreasing the burden of cost on the pharmaceutical industry allowing them to license more drugs every year while completely blocking the ability for clinical research therapists to even do therapeutic trials for stem cells in North America? The drug companies have penciled in billions of dollars in revenue for the new generation of ‘non-injectables’ like Novartis’ Gilenya (fingolimod) for the treatment of MS and other neurological diseases. Furthermore, more people have died as a direct result of taking fingolimod in the 3 months after it was licensed in 2010 than ever were considered to have died from stem cell implantation.
4) Autologous stem cell therapy has been proven ‘safe’ if nothing else.
5) Because of the interference of governments in North America and the obstacles placed in the way of the stem cell industry here, the science is considerably more advanced in other countries. The sophistication of the labs in India is testimony to that. The things they are doing there cannot even be considered here because the same resources don’t exist.
6) Over a million people have had safely had stem cell transplants in other regions of the world. There have been very few cases of complications anywhere other than efficacy of treatment and none that I am aware of with autologous cells (your own DNA). Some patients have been effectively treated and have been in disease remission for over 20 years. If there are the health concerns that the FDA cites, when are these ‘cancers’ supposed to show up?
What is unique is the fact that they have now isolated the stem cells that will regenerate neuronal tissue and potentially halt the disease process.
These reasons are why I am thumbing my nose at the FDA, Big Pharm and our Governments..I will do this MY way as I WILL get my life back..How dare they tell me how I may or may not heal. OUR stem cells are NOT drugs..they are a part of us. Because of the FDA sticking their greedy fingers into ever pie possible, I am going here to have my combined CCSVI/Stem cell treatment. Inamdar Hospital in Pune.
