via CCSVI in Multiple Sclerosis: RAI--the Italian radio/television service, is reporting on the official start of Dr. Zamboni's clinical trial.

"After the first report, which aired on December 4 last year, came more big news. The first is that the AISM (the Italian MS Society) decided not to fund the testing of Zamboni, in fact, the Scientific Committee has found no relationship between the malformation of the veins and the disease. (This refers to the COSMO doppler study, which was funded by pharmaceutical companies and did not follow Dr. Zamboni's protocol.)

The second change has arrived 2 days ago. The council of Emilia Romagna has decided to fund with 2.7 million euros total coverage of the national study developed by Professor Zamboni, "thus anticipating the funding from other regions, however, to ensure coverage of all costs of the study" Lusenti said the councilor. The study, "Brave Dreams" is designed to assess the clinical efficacy of venous angioplasty in people with multiple sclerosis. It will involved 700 patients in 19 centers. The region hopes to say a final word about the real impact of this intervention on the sick, and avoid what is happening today, or the use of interventions at private clinics, outside the control of the neurologists who treat the disease."
