CCSVI Alliance has been at the Society of Vascular Nursing Conference in Tucson this week. Beth Carrigan, Alliance Patient Advisory Board member, and I have had the opportunity to meet and talk with vascular nurses from the United States and Canada. We have been surprised to find out that many of the nurses were unfamiliar with CCSVI. Dr. Manish Mehta gave an excellent presention about the basic science behind CCSVI and his recent study data. Ms. Karen Fitzgerald, vascular nurse from the Vascular Group - Albany NY, talked about the role of nurses when treating the MS patient. She also shared her personal story of learning about the disease of MS.
I am excited about the connections we have made during the past couple of days. The nurses have been extremely interested in learning more about CCSVI... I am excited that Beth and I have been able to stimulate their curiosity and hope they will continue to learn more.
We will be posting a summary of Dr. Mehta's study data and a video interview with Karen Fitzgerald on the Alliance website in the next couple of week.s
