CCSVI in Multiple Sclerosis
From the Hubbard Foundation--an idea for a call to action: David's JVIR study should be published any day now. In the discussion he states " the cause of MS is unknown, the autoimmune theory remains unproven. Although it is clear that MS lesions are characterized by inflammation, in particular macrophage phagocytosis of myelin debris, it has not been demonstrated that T cells initiate an attack on intact myelin or on the myelin making oligodendrocytes. To the contrary, there is substantial evidence that oligodendrocytes become apoptotic before the onset of an inflammatory response." Perhaps it is time for all of our organizations to sign a letter to the MS organizations calling for a shift in funding away from T cell studies and toward perfusion/drainage studies.
