Dear Inge,
Dr. Simka's right: there are certain problems that can't be detected via MRI, e.g. pathologic valves. There are also quite a few people who get different opinions from Dr. Simka and/or Dr. Schelling. And even in some cases they didn't find the main problem untill the procedure. E.g. one guy from our forum had his azygos checked during the procedure in Poland and they discovered for the first time that his main problem was not in the jugalars (as they had been thinking) but in the azygos.
T
he MRI Prof. Vogl does isn't worthless as it is based on Prof. Haacke's protocol and it will enable in many cases to find a stenosis. E. g. Dr. Simka didn't find any stenosis during my examination with the ultrasound but looking at my Frankfurt MRI he says there are some signs.
The problem is that in the critical "unclear" cases you need both, MRI and ultrasound. And there is also the problem that an unexperienced examiner might get a false positive result (see Prof. Haacke red text
http://www.ms-mri.com/case.php )or not find a stenosis which Dr. Simka or Dr. Schelling are able to detect.
Dr. Schelling is a neurologist and therefore looks mainly at the lesions; in case of Dawson's fingers and/or Steiner's splashes he is quite sure that the person has CCSVI as this fits to the bloodflow or the reflux he presumes.
Dr. Simka is an angio and therefore focuses on the blood vessels. The people in Frankfurt have only started since 2 months so it's logical that they have less experience. But from what I've heard especially the angio department with Dr. Meyn is going forwards and they are going to offer the procedure to those where they found stenosis or other problems. I didn't do the ultrasound in Frankfurt as Dr. Simka already examined me last September. But most people from our German forum are doing both, MRI and ultrasound, in Frankfurt.
http://csvi-ms.net/forum/viewtopic.php? ... &start=150 So in any case you should get an additional ultrasound examination. If the waiting time for Dr. Simka is too long you might consider going to Dr. Meyn in Frankfurt or maybe there are also experienced Dutch doctors.
Hope this helps!
