Recently Dr. Sandy McDonald announced that he has obtained IRB approval for his new CCSVI study. This is a wonderful development, and I'm sure this will provide important data that is vital to move access to CCSVI treatment forward in Canada.

I was talking to him Friday afternoon. On Saturday at the National CCSVI Society New Discoveries, New Beginnings Conference, this study was formally made public by Dr. Bill Code, and a PowerPoint presentation was also displayed. The crowd applauded. It was so wonderful to hear this announcement at the conference.

After the announcement, I'm reading various statements people have posted, that are not completely correct. They did not match what I was told by Dr. McDonald, a couple days ago.

I asked Dr. McDonald if he would provide a brief overview, to help clarify what will be starting soon. A copy of his email is below.

I'm so happy for him. His countless hours of work, has allowed him to move forward with his observational study.

I hope his note below, clarifies the announcement of his IRB approved study.

Thank you,

WaYnE

Note from Dr. Sandy McDonald:

Sunday September 11 2011

The study I will be doing is not in conjunction with anyone else.

The protocol title is as follows

“An observational study using doppler duplex ultrasound quantifying the occurrence of jugular vein re-stenosis and complications following angioplasty to treat chronic cerebral spinal venous insufficiency (CCSVI)“

This study has IRB approval but does not allow me to do angioplasty--

This study allows me to do follow-up duplex ultrasound on pts pre and post treatment done elsewhere. This study does not endorse any specific treating facility.

I hope to get the study underway this fall

I hope this clarifies any misconception.

Thanks for your help. S
