The Annette Funicello Research Fund for Neurological Diseases (AFRFND)!

This charity has been quietly organizing and preparing to support CCSVI research and now they are ready to talk about it.

The AFRFND has been a charity since 1993 but they have recently become interested in CCSVI.  They have gathered to their governance board strong voices that will be able to carry out sophisticated campaigns to raise funds for research, and they plan on being important support to researchers looking for funds to investigate neurovascular diseases.

In addition to the governance board, they have invited key people from the world of CCSVI to act as scientific advisory board.  These people will be responsible for evaluating the merit of various requests for research funding and granting funds to the most promising studies.

Please see all the board members here: Meet the Annette Funicello Fund Board Members

These people have volunteered their time and energy to help in this effort.  Hopefully studies selected in the future will answer critical questions related to how vascular issues contribute to neurological diseases.

While there are many charities set up for CCSVI research this charity has a unique voice because Annette is one of a kind and generally beloved.  It is very special because every bit of the money raised goes to research--administrative costs are all paid for aside from donations.  I am very thankful for their decision to make a difference by directly supporting CCSVI research.  We need every bit of help we can get, as is clear based on recent activity of the Italian MS society.

When you are on the site look around and possibly donate or shop the store if you'd like to help raise funds.  They even have the movies you remember with Annette in them, books and other items available to help rise funds for the AFRFND.

It is an excellent day for people with CCSVI and neurological disease!
