                                          Life Denied

Dear fellow Canadians,

Please help me understand and hopefully find a solution as to why our government would deny a simple procedure that could stop the needless suffering and deaths of fellow Canadians?

I awoke this morning to another day of being blessed with the love of my life by my side.

Jenny now gets out of bed and completes daily tasks on her own that a lot of us take for granted. On September 14th 2010 the love of my life was given back to me thanks to a simple venoplasty procedure in San Diego. 7 months ago I would cry driving to work as I could not let my wife or son know my fears or feel my sadness. It was getting to the point of me needing home support to look after Jenny as I could no longer look after her and my son by myself.

How can our government deny a venoplasty procedure that corrects a vascular disorder that may relieve so-called MS symptoms? How are new medical breakthroughs discovered? I will tell you. New medical breakthroughs are discovered by doctors asking and getting consent to perform new procedures. The venoplasty procedure to restore the venous system has been and is being done all the time in Canada unless you have been given the label of MS.

Why did the Collage of Physicians send letters to doctors threatening possible sanctions or licences being revoked to those doctors who referred or treated anyone for CCSVI that has MS? If venoplasty to restore blood flow is too dangerous to perform then it should be stopped for everyone until it is proven safe. If any doctors are found to be restoring blood flow in dialyses patients by way of venoplasty, be careful! Restoring blood flow by way of venoplasty is experimental and unproven according to those whom hold your licences.

What could be the reason that a venoplasty procedure would be denied for someone on a compassionate basis? The only reason I can come up with is the procedure might actually work and then where would the pharmaceutical companies be? Unfortunately Canada’s health care is run and driven by pharmaceuticals.

Prove me wrong Canada and do right by allowing a simple non-invasive possibly life saving venoplasty procedure for those with the label of MS.

Canada, do not let the love of someone’s life die without allowing a chance to have this procedure.
