Aim: to Establish te frequency of CCSVI in patients with Mutipla Sclerosis (MS) using Color Doppler and venography. To perform endovascular treatment of CCSVI and to read its therapeutical effect.

Material and Methods: Using Color Echo Doppler the internal jugular veins (IJV) of 50 patients with no data for MS and 500 patients with MS were performed. Venography was applied to all patients with Doppler data for CCSVI. In the established stenosis an endovascular treatment was performed.

Results: 8% of the patients wthout MS showed data for CCSVI while in the MS group in 92 % of the patients we have established data for CCSVI. The relative risk for development of CCSVI in patients with MS is 11,8. In patients with CCSVI the venography established stenosis of IJVs in 85,4 % of the cases and 73,5 % in the azygos vein. These data confirmed the relationship between CCSVI and MS. We established endovascular treatment in 461 patients with a total of 1112 lesions of the IJVs and azygos vein. Early clinical improvements were marked in 81 % of the cases and later improvement in around 60 % of the patients. We noticed improvement in EDSS from 5.2 to 4.7.

Conclusion: Using EchoDoppler and venography we have established high frequency of CCSVI in patients with MS. We have determined clinical improvements after the endovascular therapy.
