It is 1 am in the central time zone.

And I am safely in my chair.

Took me 70 minutes, but I am safe and in my chair.  I used all assets and arrived safely.  No bruises, nothing damaged.

How did it happen?

My wife adopted a yorkshire terrier (yorkie).

"Olli" is a rescue.  The most recent in a long list of rescues (over 13 dogs, some we found homes for, others stayed with us).

Olli is generally very sweet and good natured.

Generally.

Ok, so he bit me the other day and I screamed, "Son of a bitch."  My wife was angry I said something so foul. Please note that no four letter words were uttered.  What would you exclaim after a dog bit you?

Give me a break!  No four letter words were used and I did nothing to harm the beast.

In other facts, Olli hates my walker.  I need the walker to get around the house, but he growls and snaps at it.  And this is fine so long as he just growls.

Reality of my life.  My wife goes to bed earlier than me, and I wake up first.  This has been reality since we have been together.

Olli sleeps in our bedroom, generally in a cage. He has cushions and a toy.

But he does the snarl and growl nightly.  I am used to it and my wife might tell Olli to calm down.

Tonight, I went to bed as usual. Wife is asleep. Walker to bedroom and Olli greets me by snarling.  No big deal.  I continue to the bed.

Suddenly, he lurches at met and bites my leg.

Obviously, tonight he was not in the crate.

I do not know about anyone else, but a biting dog makes me fall as I am trying to stay upright with the walker.

Down I went in a heap.  The floor is carpet, and I did not hit any furiture or anything else.  Down on my shoulder.

Wife inserts Olli into the crate and offers help.

Reality check:  I weigh about 225 pounds and she weighs about 102.

I would have broken her back if I accepted her help.

So, I refuse help and lay down on the ground for a few minutes. Next, I crawl to my chair in the next room.  I did not have the furnitue to assist me to rise to my feet, so I just crawled.  And the walker is in the bedroom.

I made it to my powered recliner and manuvered up.

GOOD FOR ME.  I AM SITTING IN MY CHAIR, BLOGGING AND BEING CALM.

Let me tell you something that rehab has helped with.  I was on the ground,  I thought: YOGA TIME.  I used a breathing technique to get calm after the dog left me on the ground.  Calm flowed through my blood with better breathing.  Then I crawled to the chair, breathed more, and catapulted up to the chair.  Do not know if I could have done all of this without the breathing training.  Physical therapy helped with strategies on how to get up from the floor.

Now I am sitting in my chair, resting and hoping to get some sleep.

I am here and I am safe.

Thank you for reading.
