An old acquaintance "friended" me on Facebook this morning.

I have not thought about this girl in fifteen years.  Not in an exgirlfriend way (We never dated, never mildly interested mutually).

And this morning saw years of memories opened.

We grew up in the same neighborhood, same Temple, same school and on and on.  We even attended the same university, were in related fraternity/sororities.  The first party of the year (we are talking 1987) we were matched.

A senior member of the frat liked her and "snarfed" her (took her for the party).  He was a good guy who asked if it was okay for him to steal her at the party.  He did not have to do this, but it was a respectful kindness.  I did not care as I was already in a relationship but thanked him for being courteous.

Ten years later I saw Melissa on St. Charles Ave. in New Orleans.

Her brother was a cheerleader at Tulane University,.And today she "firends" me.  She seems to have married the guy from the party 25 years ago.

And all of this floods back for no good reason.

Cog Fog?   I thank my venoplasty for opening this part of my brain for pleasures and memories.

Power to the people.

Power to the cure.
