It's uninsured, but it will be available in the province. http://www.saskatoonhomepage.ca/ms-follow-up-treatment-available-this-fall/itemid_21 Followup treatment for liberation therapy which some multiple sclerosis patients have been receiving outside the country, will be available through Radiology Associates of Regina. The College of Physicians and Surgeons has approved an application from RAR to provide Doppler Ultrasounds. The theory behind the liberation treatment, also known as CCSVI, is that MS is caused by a lack of drainage of blood through the neck veins. The treatment opens up the veins, so the followup would be an ultrasound to indicate whether or not that has happened. Brian Salte, with the College of Physicians, says three radiologists at RAR have decided to provide this service and it is his understanding the intend to begin in September. Patients who want to receive this uninsured service should seek a requisition from their family doctor or the physician providing care outside of the country.
