An information bomb exploded in the dark underbelly of the US Food and Drug Administration in recent weeks, as one courageous former FDA drug reviewer blew the whistle on mafia-like corruption at the highest levels of the agency, describing widespread racketeering, witness tampering and retaliation, and more.

Speaking with Truthout.org’s Martha Rosenberg[i], scientist Ronald Kavanaugh recounted a chilling story of the deliberate skewing of research material and information designed to ensure the marketing approvals of dangerous drugs like Vioxx, Avandia, Zyprexa, and many more. “”One [FDA] manager threatened my children…I was afraid that I could be killed for talking to Congress and criminal investigators,” Kavanaugh stated.

He went on to say that FDA drug reviewers, whose job it is to assess drug safety prior to approval, are told not to question drug companies, and essentially rubber-stamp the approvals. And he recalled one instance where the representative of one Pharma company actually said they had paid for the approval!
