We all mourn the loss of beloved Seattle news reporter Kathi Goetzen. Kathi reported on CCSVI in 2010. Her compassion and understanding of patients searching for answers came from her own experience with treatments for her brain tumor. Danielle Rheaume says it beautifully.
"I just got the news that you have passed... and I am writing now to tell you that you are already missed by many. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to get to know you through the story that you did two years ago on those of us with MS that were pursuing a controversial treatment. You approached the story with compassion and understanding that only those that have also suffered with chronic illness can possess. You understood our desperation, our frustration, and our willingness to try something different. You had already been in the trenches with your own illness for 12 years by then. I know that you fought as hard and bravely as anybody could ever fight... and then some. You also managed to remain witty throughout the battle. I will never forget the email that you sent me where you described your tumor as a "squatter." You always brought a smile to my face. We never did get that chance to have our dogs play together at your place... bummer for them, but even bigger bummer for me; I would have loved to have seen you at least one more time. God bless you and God bless your dear family. You will always be remembered for all that you were... and all that you will continue to be in the hearts and minds of those that had the distinct pleasure of knowing you."
