the very first note on CCSVI in MS

Welcome!
Hello to those searching for information on CCSVI...Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency...a condition found in most multiple sclerosis patients that have been tested. Termed by Dr. Paolo Zamboni, Head of the Vascular Dept. at the University of Ferrera, Italy- this condition is being studied by vascular doctors and neurologists around the world. CCSVI appears as a stenosis (narrowing) of the veins draining the brain and spine- the internal jugular and azygos veins. This causes a reflux of blood, slowed perfusion and decreased oxygenation. Testing for this condition must be done by a vascular specialist- utilizing magnetic resonance venography, dopplers, venograms or CT scans- so that the venous bloodflow and veins can be seen. We will be posting links to web pages with information.
