MS is not simply about white matter lesions and relapses. It's about neurodegeneration, too. That's why people keep progressing, even if they no longer have new lesions or relapses. There have been recent news stories about bone marrow transplants curing MS, and new oral treatments curing MS ---these measures may stop inflammation in RRMS, but do these treatments and drugs stop the loss of brain matter and slow disability and progression?
