The deep cerebral veins are different in people with MS. The veins in newly enhanced lesions are well-defined, and the deep medullary veins are longer are increased in those with a new diagnosis. Yet these same veins are less defined and shorter in those with a longer disease duration. Is this part of the perfusion/reperfusion injury which occurs in CCSVI? Is it due to the reflux of the deep cerebral veins? We need more research. The cerebral veins of people with RRMS are not normal.
