Wonderful interview with Dr. Jonathan Kipnis on his lab's discovery of lymphatic vessels in the brain. Thanks to our friends at MSTranslate in Australia for this indepth talk. Immune cells are needed for brain plasticity, cognition and healing. The brain needs immune cells to function. The theory of an immune privileged brain is over. These lymphatic vessels drain CSF, immune cells, proteins, metabolites, and are hugely important. This is a paradigm change. The next step is to learn what is different in lymphatic vessels in neurodegenerative disease. Understanding MS is the next goal in the Kipnis Lab. Hopefully more labs will join in.
