I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 18 years ago. At the time, the fear was overwhelming. One of my many fears was not being able to walk my daughter down the aisle when she married.

In October 2010, my youngest son was married. I danced four dances but, with fatigue setting in and the pain in my body getting intolerable, I had to leave at 10: 30 p.m.

In March, due to the generosity of my family and friends, a fundraiser was held for me. With 950 people attending, we raised enough money for me to go to California for the controversial surgery for MS. It is called The Liberation Therapy or CCSVI (Chronic Cerebral Spinal Insufficiency).

On Oct. 7, my daughter was married and I walked her down the aisle. I danced all night long and did not get to bed until after 1: 30 a.m.

My family and friends say I am walking better. I have more energy, my pain level is significantly lower, I am tolerating heat much better and sleeping more soundly. The brain fog is gone. I have been going to the gym three times a week and getting my strength and balance back.

Is this a placebo? You be the judge. Let's get this procedure back in the news and on the radar screen.
