It seems that getting CCSVI in Canada is still a long way off,  thanks to the snails pace that Trials are going to take,   I thought that maybe a poem to Santa might help the cause this Christmas:

Let me tell you the story of a terrible disease,

It takes away your soul as it brings you to your knees,

This disease is M.S.,  and it comes with several stages,

It attacks at random,  and targets people of all ages;

It can come and it will go,  but then it gets progressive,

If it wasn't so very bad,  you might call it impressive,

The Symptoms of this disease are so varied and many,

You don't just get one,  the disease gives you many;

From a Member of Society,  the World at your feet,

Your function is lost and so you watch from your wheel-chair seat,

It has no known cause,  it cannot be cured,

Our Doctors tell us its something we must endure;

There are drugs to take,  but they have little effect,

And despite their high cost, they don't do what we exopect;

The story of M.S. goes back a long, long way,

It was thought to do with blood flow, that's what the books all say,

But then Neurologists took over and they did something not so nice,

They experimented and gave the symptoms to some mice !!

So drugs were invented,  they call them D.M.D.'s,

They help for some symptoms,  but they just aren't for me,

And even if they help,  they won't stop the disease progressing,

And then all you'll get is your Neuro re-assessing;

They hand out presciptions that cost our Health Care millions,

And all around the World,  Big Pharma rakes in Billions,

It was said that Nero fiddled while Rome was burning,

Now our Neuro's are fiddling while Big Pharma keeps on earning;

Then along came an Italian,  Zamboni is his name,

He's a Surgeon from Ferrerra,  his Speciality is Veins,

When his wife got M.S. he went back and read the books,

He found the Venous Connection and decided to take a look;

He noted poor drainage of blood from the Brain,

Asking was iron being deposited by the blood that didn't drain?

He came up with a Theory,  it's about insufficient flow,

And on Doppler Ultrasound he was able to show,

Turbulence,  and Reflux,  and Lethargic Circulation,

His Theory was heard by the M.S. Nation,

But Neuro's didn't like it,  it takes away their bread and butter,

So they tried so very hard to kick Zamboni to the gutter;

But the Patients wouldn't listen,  his news was way to good,

A treatment for this disease was something not to loose,

The M.S. Society however listened to their Neurologists,

But all that really got them was to get their Members ..er..Dissed !

So the battle began and has raged back and fore,

Neurologists against,  MS Patients who are for,

Treatments are being done and reports show all is well,

But the Doctors just won't listen to what their Patients have to tell.

In Canada we still can't go and get ourselves treated,

Our Government says Trials must really be completed,

Why can't they just get on with it,  and simply get it done,

So all the M.S. Patients can see their fight is won;

Now another Year is over,  a New one will soon begin,

And with all of this INACTION,  no one's going to win,

So if indeed there is a Santa,  here's the gift for which we pray,
