Dr. Kipnis explains these newly found vessels in mice and humans and how thet affect the immune system. A 5 minute interview.
Kipnis: "The immune link with some neurological disorders is now obvious for example in Autism, in Alzheimers, obviously in neuroinflammatory disorders like Multiple Sclerosis. If the immune system is involved in those disorders the communication between the brain and the immune system is mediated by those vessels, so we believe that they probably will be playing a major role in most, if not all, neurological conditions where the immune system is involved."
