Though it is too early to assess Nicholas' case, I wanted to update you on his present condition. He will be spending several days in hospital due to the venous bypass needed to access past the ILJ vein. The first improvement was obvious before he left the procedure room. After many months of double vision, it is completely normal. His peripheral vision is also normal.
He will have a complete neurological work up tomorrow, but so far, so good. An interesting note is that his neurologist in Canada never mentioned to him or his parents that he was developing a speech impediment, particularly stuttering. (Although it WAS noted in his records). His mom noticed improvement two hours after his procedure and surgery. Most likely the parents were unaware of his speech degradation because it developed over many months and they lived with him everyday.
He is so excited that they decided to keep him lightly sedated to keep him in bed.

When I know more... I will pass it on. I will say that this is nothing but more proof of the vascular condition many of us suffer from. He was given no pre-procedure encouragement that he might realize any improvement. That makes the placebo effect very unlikely.
