September 2016 Multiple Sclerosis News Headlines – Australia

Heading this months featured headlines is the rewriting of the prestigious Oxford Textbook of Vascular Surgery to include a full chapter on Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency (CCSVI) that puts to rest much of the early scepticism and misinformation regarding the impact of vascular irregularities on MS progression

Also referenced is the Australian Liberal/National Coalition government’s acknowledgment of the importance of cardiovascular risk factors to multiple sclerosis. They say that Australian’s with such conditions should have timely access to innovative new treatments that have been independently assessed as safe, effective and cost-effective.

Much more about associated developments - including some snapshots that illustrate how a diversity of contributions by Australian MS communities are underpinning many of these important new understandings.
