After the death of Mahir Mostic, federal Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq
suggests that people suffering from multiple sclerosis should "put away

their passports" and not undergo surgery in Costa Rica or elsewhere

until there is evidence that the procedure is safe.

There are no clinical trials scheduled but Ottawa is helping to fund research
projects and an "expert" panel will hold their first meetings to review

any findings. But if there are no clinical trials, what findings will

they be studying?

MS is a cruel disease. One doesn't die all at once, just a little bit each day. People suffering with MS do not have
the luxury of time to wait for these "expert panels" to organize and

begin a review. What MS sufferers want is something now. Hope.

Mahir Mostic was already sick with MS, suffering from blood clots from the
procedure, so why couldn't he be treated by doctors in Canada instead

of having to return to Costa Rica in his weakened condition?

Is this standard procedure, to deny a sick man medical help? Perhaps if
he'd been treated here instead of flying back to Costa Rica, he might

have survived.

What's going on?
