Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!

Hi all,

I thought if I kept this on the forefront, I would be held accountable to my training and I could train for a reason.  I plan on running a full marathon - 26.2 miles - in October of 2011.  I would love to train and raise money at the same time.  I am setting up a charitable donation page through FirstGiving.org.  This organization is linked with Capital Region Medical Research Foundation, Dr. Siskin in Albany, NY. I promised Dr. Siskin in October of 2010 that I would run the marathon and raise money for his research.

Now, I want to make things very clear and honest from the beginning.  I am a very fortunate person that just happens to have MS (Multiple Sclerois) and CCSVI (Chronic cerebro-spinal venous insufficiency.)  I ran before my first angio and I continue to run today.  Is my running easier after my angio?  Absolutely … I run without fear of knocking myself over from a wayward kick of my foot. I run in a straighter line and don’t tip to the side as often as before.  My breathing settles down more quickly and I run without as much pain or muscle fatigue.  Simply put, I run because I still can and I run for those that cannot.

The angio was a blessing for the first two months.  I have now developed some of the same signs and symptoms that I had before.  The fatigue is creeping back into my life and some of the muscle spasms and tingling have re-appeared. Although on a much smaller level than before.  I do, however, not let it get me down.  I knew going into the first angio that it might not be the only angio I have to have done.  If I restenose, so be it.  I will have it taken care of and move forward with my life and my running. As of January 2011, my veins are still flowing freely.

I will post my running on my facebook page.  If you are not my friend on facebook, please feel free to look me up and follow me there.  I will be honest in my mileage. I would love to have you donate to my cause.  I will run long and far to help bring CCSVI treatment to all people, regardless of the country in which you live.  Thank you for allowing me to run FOR YOU! With each step, I run with a focus … you!

~Dawn
