Coach John Madden introduced the term "controlled fanaticism."  The reason fits me.  Madden coached the 1970s Oakland Raiders.  In football, being on the kickoff team is about effort, enthusiasm and discipline.  Madden initally observed the kickoff team lacked effort.  Madden wanted fanatics on kickoff.  Fearless player, giving everything to tackle the returner.  The first game was a disaster.   The "fanatics" lacked disicipline.  The errors were problematic and changes needed to be made.

Madden adjusted his coaching techniques.  He told the team he wanted "Controlled Fanaticism."  The desired action from his team was to be fearless, but disciplined.  The Raiders became one of the best teams of the decade, earning multiple playoff berths and a Super Bowl championship.

Where is the link to CCSVI?

Because I and several others are "controlled fanatics" working to expand knowledge and acceptance of CCSVI.

The procedure is somewhat controversial.  The idea is counter intuitive to many medical professionals.

The reality is that an incedible number of MS suffers have had improvments from the "Liberation Procedure."  The event we all want is to roll in on a wheelchair and walkout on our legs.

And this has happened for some.

With the reality of multiple sclerosis, fair to poor drugs with uneven and at some harmful side effects.  More people have died from drug side effects than the drug companies want to admit.

I offer the choice:  drugs with uneven performance  against a procedure that offers improvement to over 75% of patients.

MS patients have been offered little hope of ever getting better.  We all pray for an avenue to improve.  Procedure or drug, I speak for many who do not care.  If we can get improvements leading to an eventual cure, we will do it.

Where do I get "controlled fanaticism?"  As a group, we are focused on getting better from the procedure.  CCSVI gives us a tangible procedure that has helped over 15000.    We all want improvements for others with MS.

Now governments and the medical establishments are inflexible to innovation.  The procedure derives from an Italian doctor, not the Mayo Clinic.  Patients seek this improvement from doctors world wide, but the lack of endorsement from doctors does not matter to many of us.

I seeked out a doctor.  And I got lucky and found a terrific surgeon.  I was one of Dr. Edwin Underwood's first CCSVI patients.  And he told me how amazed he was that his CCSVI patients were understanding of the procedure.  And realistic with the wide array of outcomes.  He told me that the patients spoke openly of how it could help, but might not.   How can a patient go under the knife and not know the outcome?

"Controlled fanaticism" is the answer.  Many who seek the procedure know the risks and how we may get no improvement.  Speaking personally, I did not care.  I understood what was going to happen, and had no fear.

How can I volunteer aggressively to have this done? "Controlled fanaticism."  I wanted it, but I was not going to anyone who was a doctor.  I looked for an experienced IR, who knew the procedure and was willing to innovate.

I was determined, but disciplined.  I wanted improvement.  I did get improvement after my first procedure.  The second procedure did not work as I had 100% blockage in my left juggular.

I am lucky to have had the procedure.  For my blessings, I will gladly offer my experiences.  I share with others about potential improvements.

I thank those whom I have met here on Locator and through other media.  I find most of us to be "controlled fanatics." We want CCSVI to be approved and funded by governments and insurance companies, however we do not throw explosives at those who disagree.

Our only aim is to pursude.  A new procedure has been found, would neuros, governments and insurance companies close your books and manuals to see what can be done.

Let us all go forward with focus and clairity, but no anger.  We do not need our opposition to agree, just allow our people to get better.

Power to the people.

Power to the cure.
